Manziel Text Helps Push Browns To Draft Him
(Berea, OH) -- A message from Johnny Manziel apparently helped push the Cleveland Browns into drafting the former Heisman Trophy winner. Browns quarterback coach Dowell Loggains tells Arkansas' KBCN-FM that he received a text from the former Texas A&M star during the draft saying, "I wish you guys would come get me. Hurry up and draft me because I want to wreck this league together." Loggains says he forwarded the text to owner Jimmy Haslam and head coach Mike Pettine , telling them that Manziel wants to be here and be part of it. Haslam responded by saying, "Pull the trigger. We're trading up to get this guy." The Browns traded picks with the Philadelphia Eagles, moving up from 26th to 22nd to draft Manziel in the first round.
