IRS House Hearing Becomes Contentious
(Washington, DC) -- Internal Revenue Service Commissioner John Koskinen is taking a grilling from a House panel. The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee questioned the IRS boss today and GOP Chairman Darrell Issa pressed him about emails from former IRS official Lois Lerner. Issa said Koskinen could have turned over Lerner's emails in a matter of seconds. Koskinen shot back saying "that's not information that I have." The IRS is under fire for allegedly targeting Tea Party groups for extra scrutiny. Lerner has twice refused to testify before the committee.
Ohio Republican Jim Jordan said he was tired of excuses, and accused Koskinen of not working fast enough. Koskinen told Maryland Democrat Elijah Cummings that the volume of documentation that the committee has requested will take years to produce.
