Health Secretary-Nominee Appears To Have Smooth Path To Confirmation

(Washington, DC) -- Sylvia Mathews Burwell appears to have a smooth path to confirmation as Secretary of Health and Human Services. In a Senate hearing, Democrats and Republicans praised Burwell. However, Republicans expressed continued disdain for the healthcare reform law. President Obama nominated Burwell to replace outgoing Secretary Kathleen Sebelius . Sebelius presided over the launch of HealthCare.gov, the federal website for the new health insurance exchanges. After a disastrous liftoff in October, more than eight-million people have enrolled. Burwell has been White House budget chief for the past year.
