Franco To Play Baseball At Age 55

(Fort Worth, TX) -- Former American League batting champion Julio Franco is ready to give baseball another try. The 55-year-old has agreed to become a player-coach for the Fort Worth Cats of the United Baseball League. Franco will be with the team for its first homestand from Tuesday, May 20th through Wednesday, May 28th. Franco last played in the majors in 2007 with the Atlanta Braves at age 49. He spent parts of 23 seasons in the big leagues, winning a batting title with Texas in 1991.
