"Hunger Games" Sequel Helps Set Franchise Record

The movie crossed the 409-million-dollar mark Thursday night to boost its status, although "Iron Man 3" still holds the record for the highest grossing film within the calendar year. Released on November 22nd, "Catching Fire" reached its 409-million-dollar mark in just 49 days. The sequel has a total worldwide gross of 838-million dollars to date and has now set a franchise record. According to Deadline.com, it marks the first time ever that the first two installments of a franchise have grossed 400-million dollars at the domestic box office.
