New Firehouse Dedicated To Fire Chief Isidore Martinez

(San Antonio, TX) -- San Antonio is dedicating its newest firehouse to the city's first Mexican-American fire chief. The fire department's dedication of the North Side's Fire Station number 28 was held yesterday in honor of Isidore Martinez, who died in 2009. Martinez spent 36 years with the department and oversaw the hiring of the department's first female firefighters. The new facility on Burwood Lane is more than 12-thousand square feet.
