Son Switched At Birth Sues Hospital

(Tokyo) -- A Japanese man is being awarded thousands in damages after he sued the hospital that switched him and another baby at birth. A DNA test showed the 60-year-old was actually born to wealthy parents, but spent his life living in poverty because of the mistake. The Tokyo hospital is paying the man nearly four-hundred-thousand dollars in damages. The swapped men lived each others' lives for decades. One grew up in a small apartment and survived on welfare checks while the other lived a life of affluence.
The mistake was discovered in 2009 after the wealthy family began wondering why one of their four sons did not look like his siblings. Their "real" son now takes care of the older brother he grew up with while keeping in touch with his newly discovered siblings.
