Customs: Beware Airport Phone Calls From \"Relatives\"

(Houston, TX) -- The U.S. Customs and Border Protection service is warning Texas residents about a scam that has targeted families of Hispanic descent. In the scam, a person claiming to be a relative not seen for years will call the target and say they are at the airport but cannot get through customs. The person then requests that a thousand dollars or more be wired immediately in order to allow the relative to get into the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents say never to wire money to people you do not know, and to contact police immediately if you become a victim of the scam.
